Pratt City is a historic neighborhood located in the western part of Birmingham, Alabama. Once an independent mining town founded in the late 1800s, it was later annexed into the city and now sits within Birmingham’s District 9. The community lies near Interstate 20/59 and U.S. Highway 78 (Arkadelphia Road), bordered by neighborhoods such as Ensley, Smithfield Estates, and Sandusky. Known for its strong neighborhood identity, rich church presence, and deep sense of community, Pratt City has shown remarkable resilience over the years, particularly after being heavily impacted by the 2011 tornado outbreak. Today, it continues to rebuild and grow through community-led revitalization efforts that honor its historic roots while striving toward a brighter future.
